MUTABLE CROSS	FIXED CROSS	CARDINAL CROSS

The three crosses refer to three sets of four of the twelve constellations that make up the zodiac. One group of four makes up the mutable cross, the second group of four makes up the fixed cross & the third group makes up the cardinal cross. The mutable cross constellations mostly affect the unevolved man & if you refer to the constellations chart, the rows labelled exoteric of the four mutable constellations are most closely to concern the propensities guiding the unevolved man. As a man evolves he shifts to the energies or propensities of the fixed cross. The first three initiations are taken on the fixed cross with the 4th (an Arhat) being taken on the transfernce to the cardinal cross. The fixed cross is called the cross of the Soul. The propensities affecting a man during this stage of his evolution, are most closely related to the esoteric rows of the four fixed cross constellations of the chart. This is to do with the challenges or tests that mus be completed during each stage & concerns the raising of the consciousness of the man.The 5TH initiation is taken on the cardinal cross & the row labelled spiritual indicates the stage of development & attributes of the man, who is now a master.
From "Esoteric Astrology" starting on page 553 “ I shall not be able to handle the subject of the three Zodical crosses - Mutable, Fixed & cardinal crosses in any great detail, owing to the fact that they are concerned with the wholes or with the syntheses of manifestation & with the unified experience of an incarnating entity, be it a God or man. They can therefore, be truly comprehened only by those with an inclusive consciouness, I.E., with an initiate awareness. Some general comments can however be made. These three crosses as you know:
1. The cross of the hidden Christ- the Mutable cross.
a. This is the cross of four major energies which produce the cinditioning circumstances which turn animal man into an aspirant. ...
2. The cross of the Crucified Christ - the Fixed cross
a. This is the cross composed of four energies which condition the life of the man who is first a probationary disciple & then an accepted or pledged disciple.
3. The cross of the risen Christ - the Cardinal cross.
a. This is the cross whereon, under occult paradox & in time & space, the spirit is crucified. Its four energies govern & direct the Soul as it moves forward on the path of initiation. Necessarily, as it deals with so exalted a stae of consciousness, there is but little I can say anent this cross except in the vaguest generalities.
From Pages 557 to 559 Esoteric Astrology : Speaking generally, therefore the mutable cross governs the forn or body nature, controls the whole life cycle of the individual soul through the stages of the lower expression orf humanity, the strictly human stages & the integrating process of personality development until the man stands forth as an aligned person, slowly reorienting himself to a higher vision, a wider horizontal & vertical grasp of reality & thus becomes an aspirant. This cross governs the lower triad in manifestation & rules in the three worlds of human evolution.
The fixed cross governs the soul which is now conscious within the human form & in the three worlds, but controls throughout what is called " The five worlds of human attainment" the three strictly human levels of activity & the two superhuman, i.e. the lower trinity & the spiritual Triad. It deals with the entirs life of soul experience & expression after the Mutable cross has effectively forced man on to the path of purification & of discipleship. It concerns the integration of soul & personality & their complete blending or fusion. The cardinal cross governs the manifestion of the Monad in all its glory & beauty & this cycle of influence falls into two stages: The one in which the monad expresses itself upon the six planes of manifestatiomn in "wisdom, strength & beauty" through the medium of the integrated soul. This is a relatively brief stage. Second, the stage wherein -withdrawn & abstracted from the forms of Being -The ONE proceeds upon the higher way & passes on to the realms unknown to e'en to the highest of the sons of God upon our Earth.
It might be added that the mutable cross is the conditioning influence in that great planetaty centre which we call the human; The fixed cross is paramountly the major controlling set of energies governing & being transmitted by the centre which we call the Planetary Hierarchy; whilst the cardinal crossrules & conditions (in a manner unknown to men) that great planetary centre to which we give the name Shamballa.
Will it clarify the subject technically & academically if I point out that-
1. The Mutable Cross is the cross of Holy Spirit, of the third person of the Christian Trinity as it organises substance & evokes sensitive response from substance itself.
2. The Fixed Cross is the Cross of the Son of God, of the second Person of the Trinity, driven through love to incarnate in mattewr & to be consciously crucified upon the cross of matter.
3. The Cardinal Cross is the Cross of the Father, the first aspect of the sacred Trinity, Who sent forth the Holy Spirit (the Breath) because the Mind of God visioned a destiny for matter which had been long in coming.
Now the time was at hand, the Son fulfilled the law in cooperation with the Holy Spirit & this in response to the fiat of the Father.
